"IF
WE BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME" |
|
|
The City of High Point, with the support of dedicated and
concerned community leaders, has begun plans for a baseball
field for physically and mentally challenged youth.
Demographics show 15,000 disabled children in the 8 county
Triad area that would benefit from this facility. This
organization that they have teamed with is called the
Miracle League. What is the Miracle League? It's
Hope, Determination, and a display of Human spirit that is
unequaled. And or course...there's baseball. We are
in the process of building this custom-designed field which
requires special design, specifications, and detail in order
to be accessible to disabled children. The city of
High Point will provide the land, grade the field, put in
bathrooms, and provide parking. Parks and Recreation
will run and maintain the field. They both will
oversee the construction.
Fundraising efforts are underway to raise the $400,000 in
private funds needed to build, operate and maintain the
Miracle League Field as well as the adjoining special needs
playground. Any financial support you or your company
can provide, big or small, will mean a priceless experience
for a child.
So look at the wonderful location across from A.J. Simeon
Stadium, open your hearts and please pledge your support to
bring this "field of dreams" to High Point. The High
Point Miracle League gives these children the opportunity to
get out in the sunshine and enjoy playing the game of
baseball in its purest form.
